Meeting of N4ED project BPP Evaluation Commission Experts on identification of ‪2018-2019 Best Practices of Georgian municipalities

The National Association of Local Authorities of Georgia organized the meeting of N4ED project BPP Evaluation Commission Experts on identification of ‪2018-2019 Best Practices of Georgian municipalities.

The specially formed representative evaluation commission has held the meeting today, during which participants prepared conclusions, recommendations, as well as the results of the evaluation and comments for the Committee Summary Meeting. The specially formed commission is composed of both public and non-governmental organizations and experts.

Ms. Nino Zurabishvili, expert of NALAG, Key expert of the Best Practices Program (BPP), Ms. Natya Ghvinashvli, deputy executive director of NALAG, Mr. Nikoloz Rosebashvili, Head of Department for Relations with Regions and local self-government agencies at the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia (MRDI), Professor Mr. Mikheil Jibuti, Doctor of Economics,  Mr. Zviad Archuadze, Country Coordinator for Georgia and Azerbaijan at EU Initiative “Mayors for Economic Growth”, Ms. Nino Khukhua, Executive Director of Local Democracy Agency Georgia, Mr. Gocha Lobzhanidze, expert of Association of Financiers of Local Self-Government Units of Georgia and Mr. Kakha Gurgenidze, expert of NALAG.

As it was noted during the meeting, the winner municipalities of ‪2018-2019 Best Practices will be revealed on December 18, during the Meeting of the Steering Committee of BPP .

Twelve themes were selected for the current BPP 2019. 38 projects have been submitted to N4ED project Best Practice Program from 20 municipalities of Georgia.

Successful, transparent, adequate, replicable, sustainable - these are criteria, used by the specially formed representative evaluation commission, while identifying 5 winner municipalities with the best practices, within the BPP 2019 contest.

The final results will be announced during the second National Conference on Best Practices and the Award Ceremony of winner municipalities of the Best Practice Program (BPP) on December 20, 2019. The winner municipalities will be awarded with the special awards and Certificates.

The Best Practices Program is a tool recognized by the Council of Europe and widely used in its member states, it aims to identify successful examples in the implementation of local self-governance in municipalities and to apply good practices in other municipalities.
