On 7 March delegation of the Federation of Municipalities of Catalonia (FMC) had their final meeting at the office of the National Association of Local Authorities of Georgia (NALAG).

Spanish delegation composed of Mr. Eduard Rivas Mateo, mayor of Esparreguera, FMC board, Mr. Juan Ignasio Soto Valle, secretary general of FMC and Mr. Olivier Terrien – consultant thanked Mr. David Melua, executive director of the National Association of Local Authorities of Georgia (NALAG) and Ms. Natya Ghvinashvili, deputy executive director of NALAG for hospitality. They expressed willingness for future cooperation with NALAG.

On 4-8 March 2019 delegation of the Federation of Municipalities of Catalonia (FMC) visited Georgia. The agenda of their visit included meetings at the Parliament of Georgia, at the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure (MRDI) and at Tbilisi City Assembly. They also visited Rustavi, Mtskheta-Mtianeti and Kakheti.   

Mr. Irakli Kadagishvili, Governor of Kakheti and Mr. Shota Nareklishvili, Mayor of Telavi held the meetings with the delegation of FMC and representatives from NALAG in Kakheti. During the meeting was discussed projects on inter-municipal cooperation.

The Georgian side provided guests with information about “destination management organization-visit Kakheti” (DMO). Which was established through collaboration between municipalities of Kakheti. Mr. Kadagishvili mentioned that DMO will promote tourism in Kakheti.

Mr. Gela Bakradze, Chairman of Mtskheta Municipal Council held the meeting with the delegation of FMC and representatives from NALAG in Mtskheta. They talked about deepening the relations and discussed the challenges in the region.
