Delegation of the Federation of Municipalities of Catalonia (FMC) is visiting Georgia. On the second day of their visit Spanish delegation composed of Mr. Eduard Rivas Mateo, mayor of Esparreguera, FMC board, Mr. Juan Ignasio Soto Valle, secretary general of FMC and Mr. Olivier Terrien, consultant had the meetings at the Parliament of Georgia, at the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure (MRDI) and at Tbilisi City Assembly. They also visited Rustavi municipality.
Mr. Giorgi Tkemaladze, Vice-President of NALAG, Chairman of Tbilisi City Municipal Assembly hosted the delegation at Tbilisi city assembly. Among participants of the meeting were representatives from National Association of Local Authorities of Georgia (NALAG).
Vice-President of NALAG acquainted delegation with information about implemented and planned projects in Tbilisi, which deal with urban development, ecological and transport policy as well as social issues.
As stated by Mr. Tkemaladze: “This visit is important for deepening relations between our towns and associations. We are actively working on the decentralization strategy, strengthening local self-governance and in this regard, sharing the experience will be very useful.
Members of the meeting discussed future plans of cooperation, after which the guests invited vice-president of NALAG to Barcelona.
On the same day, delegation met with Ms. Mzia Giorgobiani, the deputy minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia (MRDI), Mr. Merab Kvaraia, Deputy Chairman of the Regional Policy and Self-Governance Committee of the Parliament of Georgia, Mr. Levan Oniani, Chairman of Rustavi City Council. During the meetings participants shared information on the ongoing reforms in their countries.
Delegation of the Federation of Municipalities of Catalonia (FMC) will also visit several municipalities.
