The National Association of Local Authorities of Georgia (NALAG), within the framework of the project “EcoYOU: Clean and Green Minds for an Environmentally Friendly Behavior,” continues environmental patrolling on land and water.
These activities were carried out at three locations: Choporti Lake, Algeti Reservoir, and Tbilisi Sea.
The project’s initiative enables young people and interested individuals to directly participate in environmental protection activities. They have the opportunity to identify and study polluted areas that require cleanup and upload the relevant data, including GPS coordinates, to the specially created BeECO portal. The BeECO portal is a public platform accessible to all interested parties: https://beeco.actedj.ro/1/home.
To ensure effective and comprehensive water patrolling, NALAG acquired a specialized boat and kayaks within the project’s scope. These resources facilitate movement on lakes, rivers, and coastal zones, allowing the project team and young participants to directly investigate polluted areas and initiate concrete actions for their cleanup and restoration.
Similar activities will cover other territories, lakes, rivers, and reservoirs across Georgia in the future.
The “EcoYOU” project also promotes transnational cooperation among environmental NGOs, educational institutions, public officials, and youth groups to effectively address pollution issues through shared resources and expertise.
The project is co-funded by the European Union under the Interreg VI-B NEXT Black Sea Basin Programme and involves three countries: Georgia, Moldova, and Romania.
