The National Association of Local Authorities of Georgia continues its cycle of training sessions for target municipalities as part of the project “Guardians of seeds for Biodiversity, Agrobiodiversity, Ecosystem Services, and Climate Adaptation”.
This time, the seminar was held in Marneuli Municipality, where project coordinator Nino Zurabishvili provided a detailed overview of the project’s goals and objectives.
Expert Tatia Khositashvili delivered a presentation, introducing the audience to good agricultural practices for preserving local seed material.
The project is implemented by NALAG and co-financed by the European Union within the framework of the Black Sea Basin Programme.
The main objective of the project is to protect seeds of traditional vegetable varieties and species, enhance agrobiodiversity, promote healthy food diversity, strengthen food security, and support ecosystem services. Additionally, the project aims to demonstrate a model for improving access for vegetable producers by establishing seed collections and banks of old traditional vegetable varieties with the participation of local communities.
