The National Association of Local Authorities of Georgia (NALAG) has successfully completed the project βSeed Guardians for Biodiversity, Agrobiodiversity, Ecosystem Services and Climate Adaptation (BSB00450 SEEDGUARD), implemented within the framework of the Black Sea Basin Programme with co-funding from the European Union.
The project was carried out during 2024β2026 with the participation of organizations from Bulgaria (lead partner β UBBSLA), TΓΌrkiye (DOKA), Romania (AGP) and Georgia (NALAG). Its main objective was the protection of traditional vegetable varieties and species seeds, the improvement of agrobiodiversity, healthy food diversity, food security and ecosystem services. The initiative also aimed to demonstrate an improved access model for vegetable producers β through the establishment of collections/seed banks of old traditional varieties based on community participation.
Throughout the project, NALAG actively collaborated with the Agricultural and Rural Development Agency (public law entity) and Marneuli Vocational College βModusβ.
