From February 17 to 21, the annual meeting of United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) was held in Barcelona under the theme βThe Role of Local Governments and Youth in Shaping the Future.β
The meeting was attended by members of the Tbilisi Municipality Council, Otar Grigolia and Nino Vardosanidze, representing Georgia.
This large-scale event aimed to integrate youth perspectives into the local decision-making process and foster intergenerational dialogue, contributing to the achievement of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Discussions at the meeting focused on the role of local governments in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), their active participation in addressing climate change, and the impact of innovation and technology on improving local governance.
Additionally, special attention was given to presentations of projects from various countries, followed by an exchange of ideas.
Representatives of the Georgian delegation, along with their international colleagues, reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation and adopting joint initiatives that will contribute to achieving the SDGs and addressing global challenges.
