In order to strengthen the strategic vision of the association and effectively position it among civil society organizations, a training session was held for the employees of the National Association of Local Authorities of Georgia (NALAG). The meeting, which included several sessions, was organized by NALAG and UN Women, with support from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.
Participants of the training were introduced in detail to the results of a study conducted by UN Women. The study focused on assessing the capabilities of civil society organizations working on gender equality and women’s empowerment, identifying their strengths and weaknesses, and developing relevant recommendations. The meeting also presented examples of activities and good practices implemented through cooperation between UN Women and CSOs.
The second part of the training was dedicated to discussing the principles of the association’s strategy. Representatives of NALAG, together with an expert, worked on establishing mechanisms for properly defining the strategy document and discussed the association’s capabilities and potential challenges in relation to civil society organizations.
At the conclusion of the meeting, participants were introduced to models of cooperation between local government associations and civil society organizations in other countries. They also engaged in thematic group work to explore these models further.
The training was organized in cooperation with NALAG and UN Women within the framework of the project βWomen’s Leadership for Democracy in Georgia,β funded by the Government of Norway and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.
