The Deputy Executive Director of the National Association of Local Authorities of Georgia, Tatiana Bokuchava, attended the presentation of the new sub-programme of the LEPL International Education Center “Promotion of Receiving Education Abroad for the Development of Regions 2024-25”.
As the executive director of the mentioned center, Nunu Mickevich, explained during the presentation, the new sub-program of the International Education Center aims to support the regions of Georgia in receiving education abroad and promoting qualification enhancement. According to her statement, the beneficiaries of the program will be young people selected through a competition, who will receive education and qualifications abroad with state financing. After returning to their homeland, they will be employed in the regions,The goal is to use the acquired knowledge to aid the development of the regions.
The results of the program were discussed at the meeting, which was opened by the Deputy Minister of Education, Science, and Youth of Georgia, Tariel Gugava. The speakers focused on the achievements of their graduate, Nino Rukhadze, as a successful example, who currently holds the position of the Executive Director of NALAG and Vice-President of the European Council of Regions and Municipalities.
Within the framework of the meeting, to promote the internationalization of education in the university space of Georgia, a memorandum of cooperation and mutual understanding was also signed between the International Education Center and the Standing Conference of Regional Universities.
At the end of the event, the attending public was informed about the interstate educational programs of the International Education Center. According to these programs, the center administers competitions for citizens of foreign countries who undertake academic and research visits to various universities in Georgia.
The event was attended by the Deputy Ministers of Education, Science, and Youth of Georgia, state trustees in the regions of Georgia, rectors of regional universities, representatives from the Department of Relations with the Regions of the Government of Georgia, and the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia.
