Within the framework of the “EcoYOU” project, the project team will travel to partner countries to participate in events

June 12, 2025 /Posted byNALAG

In the project “EcoYOU: Clean and Green minds for an environmental friendly behaviour” organizations from the three participating countries – Georgia, the Republic of Moldova, and Romania – are gradually implementing activities in their respective countries. These activities aim to raise environmental awareness, promote eco-friendly behavior, and strengthen the engagement of youth and local communities.

At the beginning of June, following relevant events held in Georgia, environmental activities will continue in the Republic of Moldova and Romania.

From Georgia, the following individuals will participate in these activities: the project manager, the Deputy Executive Director of NALAG (National Association of Local Authorities of Georgia) – Tatiana Bokuchava; the project assistant and manager of international project development at the Association – Mariami Jintcharadze; the president of the Union of Young Researchers and Analysts – Soso Mezvrishvili; and the ecotoxicologist – Khatuna Akhalia.

On June 16–18, discussions on biodiversity and environmentally responsible behavior will take place in Moldova. A training on eco-camp organization will be conducted, focus groups will be held, and a joint camp will be arranged to facilitate knowledge and practical experience sharing in this direction.

On June 18–19, the project will continue in Romania, where similar core activities conducted in Moldova, including a cleanup campaign, are planned. This campaign will support greater public engagement in environmental actions.

In both countries, events titled “8 Extra Hours for Positive Environmental Impact” will be held. Participants will hear from professionals in various fields about ecological work and sustainable practices. Focus group work will help young people identify local needs and develop innovative initiatives.

It is noteworthy that the project, co-financed by the European Union under the Interreg VI-B NEXT Black Sea Basin Programme, is being implemented in Georgia by the National Association of Local Authorities of Georgia (NALAG).

“EcoYOU” aims to strengthen transnational cooperation between environmental organizations, educational institutions, the public sector, and youth groups. The project promotes the development of sustainable environmental protection, with a particular focus on reducing microplastic pollution in aquatic ecosystems.
