Tbilisi has won the status of “European Sports City 2025”! The said decision was made by the special commission of ACES Europe . According to Kakha Kaladze, the mayor of Tbilisi and the president of the National Association of Local Self-Governments of Georgia , this is the first application for the status of the European Sports City for the capital. “I want to have happy and memorable news on this day, and I can’t help but congratulate you on the new status of Tbilisi – “European Sports City 2025”. We applied for this status for the first time, and obviously, we had the ambition to deserve it, but the decision of AECS Europe , after the presentation of the candidate, to name Tbilisi the European City of Sports 2025 without hesitation was unexpected for us.
I would like to thank the association and say that this is not only a responsible status for us, but also a declared support and a new opportunity to promote Tbilisi as a city that supports a sports, healthy lifestyle”, – noted Kakha Kaladze.
