The Council of European Municipalities and Regions (CEMR) shared insights from the latest report under the Women in Politics project.
CEMR presents two infographics showcasing the portfolios of elected women officials and the results of an anonymous survey on violence against women politicians.
The first page delves into the representation of women among elected officials at different subnational levels across 41 countries. It also sheds light on the distribution of thematic portfolios held at the local level.
The second page captures findings from an anonymous survey, featuring responses from 2,242 participants across 31 countries.
This survey specifically focuses on the experiences of violence targeting women in political roles.
It should be noted that with the involvement of the National Association of Local Authorities of Georgia, the municipalities of Georgia also participated in the mentioned study.
Annelies Coessens CEMR Gender and Diversity Officer states the importance of the report findings: “This evidence-based data will contribute valuable insights to discussions and be an important instrument to advocate for improved policies that can foster safer and a more inclusive political environment for women”.
