On the initiative and under the organization of the National Association of Local Authorities of Georgia, an inter-municipal social platform has been established in the Guria region.
It’s worth noting that the platform was created to promote the sharing of experiences and the joint provision of services among municipalities, uniting all three municipalities of Guria.
The meeting was opened by the Executive Director of NALAG, Nino Rukhadze, together with the deputy mayors of the Ozurgeti, Chokhatauri, and Lanchkhuti municipalities: Natia Goliadze, Mindia Zhgeria, and Ekaterine Gujabidze.
As the speakers mentioned, local government plays an important role in ensuring the protection of children and social welfare. Therefore, it is important that municipality employees are equipped with relevant knowledge and experience in proper development, planning, and implementation of social programs.
The first part of the meeting was devoted to the discussion of the concept and operation of the inter-municipal platform, which was introduced to the audience by theΒ expert on local self-governance, Nino Zurabishvili. She spoke about the goals of the UNICEF/NALAG partnership projects, introduced the results of the Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti inter-municipal platform to the audience, and reviewed the planning mechanisms of municipal social services.
At the end, the participants defined the agenda items for the next meeting of the platform and discussed future plans.
